You captured a very nice moment here, in a wonderful place at a wonderful time. Photography is all about making use of that. And if you take full advantage of the moment, you'll end up with a wonderful shot. So how can you take full advantage of a moment like this?
It's very hard, I know, because you have to act fast and accurate, before the composition you had in mind moves on into another moment. That's why it's always good to make sure you shoot a lot and try out different angles. Personally, in this photo, I would have preferred a stronger emphasis on the figures by composing them somewhere less 'crowded'. Perhaps getting to your knees (I always end up with wet knees when I'm at a beach for this reason ) and setting them more in line with the horizon. Or perhaps take the photo from a bit closer and higher, so they're in the 'surface' of the sunlit sea.
Those are splitsecond decisions that you can try out and make living the moment an extra incredible experience.
